As of 1 a.m. EDT, there are 8 aircraft at T5 gates. These aren’t arriving flights – these are the Remain Overnight aircraft (RONs, in airline parlance). These RONs were towed from T6 by the Most Excellent JFK Move Team and parked at their new home gates at T5. It’s finally feeling real – with aircraft at the gates, it sure does look like our home sweet home.
Our first official arrival, Flight 358 from Burbank, is tracking on-time for 5:03 a.m.

Oh wow this is so cool! I think it’s really interesting that all of the sudden a brand new terminal is taking the place of T6! How foreign will it feel for the flight crews to walk through this new space and pull out of a different terminal at JFK? This is super interesting and exciting to me! Thanks for the info on how the day will begin. Best of luck and best wishes for a smooth, fun opening day of operations!

As a member of the JFK Move Team it’s great to be recognized for the task that was accomplished. It was no easy job but there is almost nothing we can’t handle. T6 to T5 skies the limit…
